Webinar: Graduate Apprenticeships as a route to upskilling

Wednesday 5 May, 11.30am

Apprenticeships aren’t just for school leavers - they can help workers upskill into new roles whilst gaining a qualification.

In the changing world of work there is an increasing requirement for both employers and individuals to access upskilling and retraining opportunities in a range of areas, one of the most prevalent being data science and AI. One possible route to upskilling in data science is through a Graduate Apprenticeship - a structured programme used to advance and develop new and existing skills in the workplace, whilst working towards gaining a university qualification.

In this webinar you will hear about the Graduate Apprenticeships programme at Edinburgh Napier University. The programme is responsive to industry sector needs, offering employers of any size the opportunity to provide fully-funded degree level training to new and existing staff. They are designed by industry, have no maximum age limit and help employers bridge skills gaps, retain top talent and improve productivity through work-integrated learning.

You will hear from a current Graduate Apprentice Kayleigh Finnigan who is currently studying towards a BSc (Hons) Data Science at Napier while working full time at The Scottish Parliament. Topics discussed will include her experience so far, successes, challenges (including her experience of learning and working through lockdown) and the role of the university and employer in her professional development.

The link to the Zoom webinar will be emailed to you 50 minutes before the beginning of the event. Registration is open until 1 hour before the event.
