Data Skills Credits Applications Open

We are thrilled to announce that Data Skills Credits Individual Fund is back and open for applications from today. We can’t wait to welcome the fifth cohort of learners across Scotland looking to upskill in data.

So far, we have funded an outstanding number of over 150 learners through the individual fund alone and are looking forward to supporting more learners on their journey with data.

What is the Data Skills Credits Funding?

The Data Skills Credit scheme was launched in November 2020, providing funding to individuals living in Edinburgh and South East Scotland who were looking to develop their data skills.

In partnership with the Edinburgh & South East Scotland City Region Deal, The Data Lab’s Data Skills for Work Team are able to fund up to £500 towards the costs of data-related training to help you ensure you have the tools, skills and confidence to work efficiently with data, whether understanding it, analysing it or presenting it.

What do our learners have to say about Data Skills Credits?

I would like the thank you for getting this opportunity. I was unemployed when I applied. The course showed me that I am still able to learn new skills. Now, I started my MSc Data Science degree. Thanks very much.

This is a great opportunity given to the less privileged.

I enjoyed the opportunity to seamlessly engage in the course after the smooth application and funding process. Thank you to the Data Lab Team for all the support and funding offered to me to enable me to successfully complete the course.

Since completing the course funded through Data Skills Credits, I was promoted from assistant to manager in my data team. I've have some additional responsibilities and leading a couple of projects because of this.

What’s new?

We’ve decided to change the process of applying for Data Skills Credits in order to better accommodate those interested. Which is why, in this run of the funding, there will be no application deadline. The applications will be considered on ongoing, first come, first served basis until the funding has been used up (we’ll let everyone know once the funding has been closed). All courses applied for need to be completed by end of March 2023.

We’ll aim to get back to everyone on the decision within 3 weeks of the submitted application.
