Data Skills Credits Case Study - #DataCitizen

Hear from Irina, a recipient of Data Skills Credits, who undertook the Data Skills for Work Bundle from Digital Skills Education.

Irina had some Data Skills before applying, she had worked in roles working with data and done some self-taught learning of beginner data skills. She saw this as an “opportunity to explore areas within Data that I previously might not have focused on”. The financial support was also helpful, as Irina was unemployed at the time of the course.

The Data Skills for Work Bundle is ideal for Data Citizens looking to learn more about data. Irina said “The course bundle included workshops on Data Detox and Data Privacy - I was looking to get a refresher and learn new things in this area as I had not done much on it in the recent period”.

Irina believes data skills are very important to the world of work as

“having data skills means people will be empowered to make appropriate decisions for themselves and be responsible for both their data and any form of data they interact with”.

As a result of the course Irina feels more aware about how they share their data. It provided lots of new tips on how to control hoe much data they expose online and had practical advice that could be put into action straight away.

Irina is not developing her data skills further as well as sharing her newfound skills with family - “I am planning to do a regular Data Detox plan and also teach my niece about data privacy”.

If you would like to upskill in data like Irina why not apply for Data Skills Credits or look at the different learning pathways available.
