Introducing our new online course Data Management Fundamentals

We are so proud to launch Data Management Fundamentals – a beginner’s guide to data success. This course has been developed by The Data Lab, in partnership with Bayes Centre, University of Edinburgh, effini, and the DDI Data Skills Gateway.

We wanted to create a course that was suitable for anyone at any stage of their data journey, but this will be particularly of interest to Data Workers, and anyone whose job involves working with data and keeping is safe.

The course is delivered online through The Data Lab’s online learning platform, and is supported by some in person teaching time from our experienced course tutor Dr Devanjan Bhattacharya, a Teaching Fellow at The Bayes Centre, University of Edinburgh.

You know data is important... But do you know how to care for it?

Why Data Management Matters

Organisations that effectively use data outperform their competitors. Our course covers why managing data is crucial for the success of your business.

High-Quality Data

Learn how to identify high-quality data, and ways to improve the quality of your datasets.

Data Security and Ethics

Protect personal data and understand how organisations can keep their data safe. Learn about data misuse, ethical risks, and how to mitigate data bias.

Recruitment for the course is now open, with fully funded places offered through Data Skills for Work for eligible learners. Applications close on 25 September 2023 - find out more here.

Developed in partnership

The course content has been created with educational resources developed by effini, in collaboration with Data Education in Schools and The Data Lab, to support educators delivering the National Progression Award (NPA) in Data Science or Professional Development Award (PDA) in Data Science.
