Help us shape a new data skills programme for the region’s workforce

As part of our development process for the Data Skills for Work programme, The Data Lab would like to hear from employers in the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region to establish the demand for data skills, how this is currently being met, identify any skills gaps, and how upskilling and/or retraining can be used to respond to the threat of jobs being replaced by technology. We are working with research consultants EKOS to undertake this study.

The adoption of big data, automation and artificial intelligence is changing the way we live and work. Some jobs will be replaced by technology, others will be transformed, and new kinds of work will also emerge. COVID-19 is accelerating digital transformation across many industries.

There is therefore a need for employers across all sectors to think about how they can adapt to this change, making the most of the emerging opportunities – like improved productivity – and taking appropriate action to mitigate negative effects, like redundancies.

Your input will be crucial in shaping a new skills programme for the City Region and ensuring that it is tailored to the needs of employers.
